Umar's accident

Umar had a bit of an accident whilst my parents' anniversary dinner was in progress. He tripped and fell whilst playing with his cousins at the dais area - his upper lip hit a cleopatra chair and part of it split in to two (within the margin). It's perfectly normal for boys to have this sort of accidents, right? I have come to terms with it, anyway....

My cousin who's a gynae stopped the bleeding - they do not have the time to panic, do they? I was like running back and forth not knowing why I was reacting in such a manner (that's why I'm not a doc, you see). Rushed him to a hospital in Ampang and got there within 30 minutes (did not really rush him....I had to pass on my duties to my dear sis first and spent a good 10 minutes briefing her before we left).

We were tended to within minutes at the A&E and the Med Officer on duty advised that Umar needed to be sedated under General Anaesthesia for the stitching bit because it may cause further damage if Umar can't lay still in the process. Of course we were quite concerned and alarmed. He checked with the paed surgeon over the phone and he agreed with the M.O. Since Umar had just taken his meal about 40 minutes before that...the paed surgeon fixed 10.30 am the following day to stitch his lips.....

In the mean time, Umar's upper lip which part split was temporarily joined up using some sticky strips.

Wifey drove him to the hospital the next morning whilst I had to help clean up in Langat! It was 9 fine stitches altogether and he was his boisterous self after the anasthesia had worn out. He's at home for the week just in case the suture opens up whilst playing with his friends in school!

Thanks for all of your concern of Umar's well-being!

teringat Arif's case 5 years ago. One day balik rumah dgn.benjol sebesar telur di dahi, can you imagine my horror? teacher dia relax saje when I call, saying he trip & fell while playing, went to the clinic, the doc say it's normal *sigh*. Macam mane kita nak lepaskan anak2 walaupun dah besar main dgn.kengkawan? selamat? tak selamat?
BTW,glad that Umar is fine.
